Willespie Estate
In 1976, then schoolteachers Kevin and Marian Squance planted a tiny vineyard in Wilyabrup with Verdelho, Semillon, Riesling and Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyard site was selected for its French-like qualities; particularly the layered, well-draining gravel soils which are perfect for premium viticulture. The name Willespie blends the region Wilyabrup and the French word esperé meaning 'to hope'.
Nearly 50 years on Willespie Estate remains one of Margaret River's most prestigious, boutique producers.
Willespie produce wines that reflect the vineyardâs terroir, the sunshine hours and the natural rainfall of the region.
Modern viticultural practices and minimalist winemaking intervention ensure that the wine in the bottle expresses the intense varietal fruit characteristics that combine to create Willespie premium wines.
Nestled amongst the picturesque setting of expansive vineyards, rolling hills and natural bushland, the cellar door is built from stone and timber sourced from the property.Â
