Nala Boonur Keelip - Our Tree Camp. Alexandra Bridge Camping Ground is a pretty, peaceful camping ground set on the banks of the Blackwood River.

History
Alexandra Bridge, named after the then Princess of Wales, was built in 1897 by Wishart and Davies. It was 104m long with seventeen 6.5m spans. The deepest section of the water is around 6m much of the time but can rise above 11m in a flood. It was the first major bridge across the Blackwood River, used as a main link bridge on what is now the Brockman Highway to places east, and to service settlers and the local timber industry. When the new Alexandra Bridge was built on a new alignment of the Brockman Highway in 1969, the old bridge was kept as a tourist attraction and became a popular picnic and camping area. Unfortunately, most of the old bridge was washed away by floods in 1982.

Fantastic low key camping ground. Right on the Blackwood River, quiet beauty, amazing tranquillity. Just pay the honour fee for camping, the rangers don't play games.

Not a great camping spot for us, almost no solar available because of the very treed sites, also no cel reception for both Telstra and Optus, Starlink was struggling as well. The river proved to be difficult to fish because of the numerous sunken logs, I gave up after loosing 3 lures and no hits. The highlight for me was seeing a Western Ring-tailed Possum in daylight, surprise 😳 but I suspect it had swum across the river to escape some tree felling that was taking place on the southern bank. 😞

You can't book at this site. Pay as you go. No service until the Gin place towards Karridale. Friendly fauna overnight, possums , quenda and black ducks. Flushing toilet is a first. Nice attempt to recycle on site. Water nearby for boaters, canoes, stand ups and swimmers. Fishing too but you'll need an inland fishing licence and gentle on the throttle please. The riverbanks are eroding.

Just came back from a night at the campground and it was a pleasant experience. Very clean and well put together campground. Only thing to really note is very little cell signal (you'll get a notification here and there but otherwise its dead zone till you hit the gin seller out on the main road) and its CASH ONLY. When you get there you'll need your site fee in Cash, no ability to pay via mobile, bank transfer, etc... at least as of time of writing (March 2025) Only reason for 4 stars is present construction. Great place to visit though!
