ORGANIC WINE
Burnside Organic Farm is also home to a small family winery.  Jamie & Lara planted the grapes in 2001 and they handpick and make the wine onsite. Certified Biodynamic Demeter. Your guarantee the wine is organic from paddock to bottle.

Jamie & Lara chose the variety Zinfandel because of its luscious berry fruit characters. Keeping with the Italian theme, they also planted a white grape variety called Vermentino.  The wine is pale in colour, medium-bodied and the palate is full of sumptuous zesty lemon, stone fruit, pear and earthy minerality. It is an excellent food wine.  Both the Zinfandel & Vermentino are dry grown. The vines have to search deep for water, encouraging strong, deep resilient roots.

The fruit is handpicked in early March. The Zinfandel is wild fermented in open vats. The Vermentino is pressed and wild fermented in barrel. Grapes are picked when the moon is waxing when sugar levels are at their best. The Zinfandel must is basket pressed and placed in a combination of new and old French oak barrels. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation in barrel and is aged for 12 months.

We had an excellent stay at Burnside. The owners are incredibly nice: they made sure we had enough wood for the fireplace, gave us some fresh eggs from their chicken and took the time to show us around the farm. Our son loved to feed the chickens! The bungalows are beautiful, well maintained and super comfortable. We loved the fireplace, the fully equiped kitchen where you can cook great meals with fresh vegetables from their garden and the terrace overlooking the countryside. We were really sad to leave!

A beautiful location, ideal as a launchpad to discover the a region and a short distance from Margaret River. The bungalow itself was phenomenal. Very homely and a perfect place to cook up some local produce and goodies from the garden and have a glass by the fire. I would highly recommend.

Lovely accommodation, very clean and tidy. Beds were comfortable and had warm sheets for winter. I loved the fire and that all the fire wood that was ready for us to use. I was a little disappointed the vegetable garden didn't have any vegetables available for us to pick - perhaps wrong time of year?

We really enjoyed the farm tour with Lara. We got to feed and pet the animals. The fireplace was a fun experience and Lara was very patient when teaching us how to start the fire. The bungalow was well-maintained, with good WiFi. Definitely recommended for families with young kids.
