In Augusta's pristine waters, where two mighty oceans meet, the Southern Hemisphere's first Open Ocean winery—Subsea Estate, brings a fresh perspective to Margaret River wine. Within the depth of stunning Flinders Bay, the Southern Ocean's natural rhythms transform premium fruit into something extraordinary, crafting our limited-edition wines 20 metres below the surface.
Born from a vision to merge traditional winemaking with maritime innovation, Subsea Estate commenced its journey in May 2024 with its inaugural deep-sea 'winter' immersion.

This pioneering process harnesses the raw power of the WA's ocean environment in ways previously unseen in Australian wine. Specialist divers deploy custom-designed vats to precise depths, where constant temperatures and ocean swells influence each vintage.

Continuous motion and oceanic pressure create wines that embody the essence of both land and sea—offering something truly unique for those seeking adventure in wine.

At the Augusta Boat Harbour marina, guests can explore these ocean-influenced wines through immersive tastings. The cellar door experience features stunning views across Flinders Bay, paired with fresh abalone and insights into this dynamic winemaking approach.

Wow!!! What an experience! At the most south westerly point of Australia, they say that two wild oceans collide; however, our experience was that of beauty and taste. Suprisingly stumbling across Subsea Estate was the highlight of our morning adventures. The team of Jodee, Stella, Alice and Tim curated a sensational experience, sharing with us the wonderful wines and delicious abalone from the depths of the ocean. Our first experience of wine that has been cellared on the sea floor, we were amazed and delighted by the unique flavours and subtle nuances of each style. The fascinating story behind the history of the estate and the outstanding service makes this a must do on this gorgeous coastline!

We just did an Abalone tour with a wine and abalone tasting with Tim. What an awesome, knowledgeable host! Thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Do yourself the favour and do it! Thanks Tim. Loved the British humour and informing tour.

Newly opened coffee shop, gets the basics right (I.e. coffee) but with some room to improve. Good coffee, very limited cake/cookie options. No other food (other than the frozen abalone). Server was helpful, but working alone, so be prepared to wait if there’s more than one order ahead of you. The shop has invested in biodegradable coffee cups and lids (good!) but provided only a single bin outside so the compostable containers get mixed up with the regular garbage (not so good)…
