“Margaret River was only a young region when Cape Mentelle claimed the Jimmy Watson trophy in successive years, proving it wasn’t a fluke and that there was something special about this region at the edge of Australia. Cape Mentelle really put Margaret River on the map.” Penny Dickeson, Estate Director
Cape Mentelle, established in 1970, is one of the founding wineries of Margaret River.  While pioneering many of the region's renowned wine styles, Cape Mentelle also consistently serves as a benchmark for the quality of Margaret River wines. Accolades including consecutive wines of Australia's most prestigious wine trophy, the Jimmy Watson, with the iconic Cabernet Sauvignon in 1983 and 1984, helped put Margaret River on the international wine map.  Today, Cape Mentelle's tradition of pioneering spirit and uncompromising commitment to excellence is being upheld by their talented and innovative young team.

As a guest at Cape Mentelle, you can be assured that they take their environmental responsibilities seriously. The 120 hectares of estate vineyards are managed with a sustainable viticulture philosophy, meaning as close to organic as possible. This philosophy extends through the winery and waste management practices.

One of the best wine tastings I've ever had. Staff member that worked on that day gave us a very detailed description of each wine and food pairings for wine that we were trying, she was also very pleasant to talk to. As an added bonus wine at Cape mentelle is very high quality and tastes great.

Had a personalised wine, vineyard tour with a wine and food pairing. Excellent. I’ve drunk their vino ever since. Fully recommended.

Nothing like watching movies under the stars and enjoying a glass of red, highly recommend. You can hire a beanbag for the night and I would bring a blanket for the cooler nights.

What a fantastic venue for a movie under the stars! Cape Mentelle has a lovely grassed area amongst the trees where we watched the latest James Bond movie - No Time To Die. We enjoyed some pleasant Cape Mentelle wines (2018 Shiraz Cabernet and 2021 Rose - no byo) whilst being enticed by the Little Hand Dumplings food truck. We ordered the pan fried pork dumplings, steamed mushroom dumplings and crumbed chicken vegetable wrap, which were delicious😋 Bean bag hire was available for those who didn't bring picinic rugs or chairs. Warm clothes and blankets are essential as the sun goes down the temperature does too. The movie itself was presented with great quality sound and picture. A great evenings entertainment!
