Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate ... and FREE chocolate tastings! The Margaret River Chocolate Company is a must-visit attraction when you're visiting the region. Watch professional Chocolatiers handcraft award-winning chocolates through the Chocolate Viewing Window or enjoy a coffee and home-made cake, lunch or a gelato in the Chocolate Cafe and outdoor nature playgroup.
Affectionately known as 'The Chocolate Factory', The Margaret River Chocolate Company is one of Western Australia's most popular tourist attractions, established more than 20 years ago as the first of its kind in the region and now with manufacturing, sales and cafe facilities in Margaret River and the Swan Valley and a concept store in the heart of the Perth CBD.

The original Margaret River factory is located on a peaceful and picturesque rural property just 20 minutes from Margaret River and Busselton with plenty of parking. It provides a fascinating insight into the world of chocolate, and visitors are treated to free chocolate tastings, interactive displays, viewing windows to watch the chocolate products being made and a friendly atmosphere.

A wealth of information on all aspects of chocolate is available, plus both factories sell a huge, mouth-watering range of chocolate bars, chocolate-coated delights, hand made truffles, novelty chocolates, chocolate body products, chocolate sauce, cookies, ice-cream, chocolate milk and a variety of chocolate cakes. There's something for everyone, with well over 100 different products on offer!

The range of chocolates is always being refreshed so return visits are a must!

The Chocolate Cafe is the perfect spot for relaxed indoor and outdoor dining with tasty breakfast, lunch, morning and afternoon tea options. The menu features fresh produce from the organic vegetable garden, orchard and olive grove located on the farm. All cakes in the cafe are made in-house and there's usually between 10 and 15 different cakes to choose from. Indulge with a slice of Rocky Road or Cookies and Cream cheesecakes right through to gluten-free Orange and Almond cakes and of course a traditional Mudcake. Other menu favourites include croissants, wraps, chips, soup, quiche, nachos, burgers and fish & chips with kids options available. Go the whole chocolate hog with chocolate fondue for 2 or 4!

The Margaret River Chocolate Company welcomes visitors of all ages,  and their friendly staff will help you find the perfect gift or treat.

I’ve been here many times over the years and never had a bad experience. Staff are friendly and pricing is quite reasonable. On this visit I had a single scoop mint choc chip ice cream. It was lovely, and I actually received 2 scoops for the single scoop price. Perhaps they saw me snapping photos… COVID safe protocols are pretty much non-existent, which is a little worrying given the self-serve chocolate buttons are still a crowd favourite. The Swan Valley store has a hands free dispenser which is a far more hygienic (safer) option. The outdoor area is a nice spot to spend time chatting with friends or family. There’s a decent nature play area too. Don’t leave anything unattended though as the local wildlife is always on the lookout for unguarded ice cream. Yes, it’s that good.

While we were planning to come here to buy chocolates - but because Fish Bone winery/restaurant was full for lunch - we came here and hey presto- they serve hot meals too! And was divine appointment as it was really good food! The nachos with pull pork; Buffalo wings (quite huge, 4 pcs per plate) The fruit toast with butter! And of course, mountains and mountains of chocolate varieties!! Go crazy trying to decide what to buy! And the free choc drops to eat and sample! And somehow, the chocs were much better than it was nearly 15-20 years ago! Great improvement! Keep it up.

I don’t like chocolate but everyone in my group said this place was amazing. So much chocolate it’s unbelievable. They have free samples set up and people just get scoops and scoops worth. The hot chocolate is apparently better than Starbucks (based on my chocolate connoisseur experts). They have a big workshop too where I guess they make some of the specialty designs. It wasn’t really in action when we arrived but if it’s active it looks like it would be a cool thing to watch. If you are not into chocolate or want to switch to another sugar source they do have some cakes & pastries & coffee. I would have to say this is a must stop place (my family had to go 2x) if not just for chocolate but for the experience too.

This is an awesome place to visit if you are a chocolate lover. You can watch chocolates being made through a glass window. There is a lovely cafe with reasonably priced food including fondue and hot chocolate. There is outdoor seating, a public toilet and a huge range of chocolates to buy. Must see destination when in Margaret River.
