Dewy mornings and earlier sunsets mark the arrival of autumn, but as the air cools, the Margaret River Region’s events calendar is just heating up.
April marks the beginning of Djeran, also called the Season of Adulthood by the traditional owners of Wadandi Boodja (Saltwater People’s Country). Surfing conditions are optimal, fresh eucalyptus perfumes the trails, and autumn leaves cover our region’s parks in golden hues.

Margaret River Bottega is opening this April; bringing Italian baking, deli delights and all-day eats to the heart of town. Join the opening afternoon from 3pm for live music, tastings and a first look at this relaxed, family-friendly new spot at Doust’s Corner.
Keep the kids entertained these school holidays with activities for all ages happening across the region. In Busselton, find face painting, colouring-in contests and craft workshops at Origins Market. And if you’re further, Margaret River HEART – Nala Bardip Mia will be hosting workshops, a range of movies, and bush dancing for kids and families.
Capes Foundation attractions will also be extending trading hours across many of their sites. Forest Adventures and Capes Raptor Centre will be open 7 days per week throughout the school holidays, with longer trading hours at Cape Leeuwin and Cape Naturaliste lighthouses, Ngilgi Cave & Ancient Lands Experience, Jewel Cave, Mammoth Cave and Lake Cave.
This one’s for the little bunnies, from the Cowaramup Easter Fair, packed with local stalls, treats and family fun, to laidback vineyard hangs at Lenton Brae and Island Brook Estate, there are plenty of spots where kids can roam free while parents settle in. Think lawn games, live music, open space and all the good stuff that makes an Easter weekend feel easy and joyful.
On the hunt for chocolate? You’re in the right place. Grab a basket and get amongst it at LS Merchants’ choccy egg hunt (with DJs and dumplings to keep things lively), or go all out at Bettenay Wines where both kids and adults can hunt for goodies among the vines. Yes, that includes wine for the grown-ups. Expect face painting, music and plenty of sweet surprises along the way.
For those leaning more long lunch than egg hunt, Easter is serving up some seriously good eats. Think a Good Friday seafood degustation at Rustico, golden hour wines and sunset vibes at Grace Farm. Add in live music, grazing boards and a glass (or two), and you’ve got your Easter weekend deliciously sorted.
Join renowned ecologist Dr Simon Cherriman at Capes Raptor Centre for a hands-on workshop building nest boxes from recycled materials to support local wildlife. Enjoy a bird of prey encounter, expert insights, a guided sanctuary walk and fully catered breaks, all while learning skills you can take home.
Margs Youth Fest 2026 is back, bringing an electric mix of live music, art, sport and creative energy to the town centre, led by and for young people. This free, inclusive event celebrates connection, creativity and youth talent, creating a vibrant space for everyone to come together and shine.
Head to The Margaret River Pro and witness the world’s best surfers tackle some of the planet’s most powerful waves across 10 epic days of action. Watch it all unfold live and free at Surfers Point, where big surf meets festival vibes on WA’s most iconic coastline.
The South West Beer Festival returns to Aravina Estate, serving up 150+ local brews, surf culture and laidback festival vibes. With a surfing theme inspired by the Margaret River Pro, it’s the ultimate blend of waves, beer and good times.
Held each year on Easter Saturday the Gracetown Bay Swim is a fantastic community event bringing together locals and holiday makers. The iconic event is a one kilometre course that begins and ends at Gracetown’s main beach.
Here Comes The Sun is bringing surf, sound and sun-soaked vibes to Margaret River in collaboration with the Margaret River Pro. Expect a stacked all-Aussie lineup, local food and wine, and the ultimate coastal weekend just steps from the waves.
Observe ANZAC Day at memorial services in the Margaret River Region on 25 April. There will be services held in Margaret River, Busselton, Augusta and Dunsborough.
