Whether you prefer a martini or a classic G&T, a self-guided tour of the region’s gin distilleries offers an opportunity to get a new view of the idea of terroir while discovering the unique characters and flavours of the region’s townships.

The Grove Distillery

The Grove has earned a reputation for crafting award-winning spirits and delivering unique tasting experiences. Gin lovers can discover The Grove’s classic London Dry Gin alongside its vibrant Strawberry Gin, both distilled on-site in Wilyabrup and enjoyed across a range of tasting and cocktail experiences. A standout on the cocktail menu is the Strawberry Gin Sour, which has quickly become a crowd favourite. Whether you prefer a classic G&T or something a little more adventurous, there’s plenty to tempt gin enthusiasts. While gin may be what brings you through the door, The Grove’s wider spirits collection is equally worth exploring, with whisky, rum, vodka and an extensive range of award-winning liqueurs available for tasting. Pair your drinks with a seasonal menu from The Den, or make a weekend of it with accommodation available on-site.

West Winds Gin

Uniquely Australian, West Winds Gin is the company behind the joint-venture distillery West Winds Tavern, located in the heart of Cowaramup. The Tavern’s quickly become a Cowie township centrepiece since it opened its doors, ready to mend cocktail cravings infused by a hot day on the coast. Speaking of, West Wind’s use of the region’s pristine water and natural botanicals – including sea parsley, bush tomatoes and Davidson plums – contributes to a gin named for the breeze that kicks in off the Indian Ocean. Tastings are available in the distillery, and bookings are essential for groups 8+.

Margaret River Distilling Company

Tucked away among the trees, just a stone’s throw from the Margaret River, the Margaret River Distilling Company – home to Giniversity – captures the township’s laid-back elegance and environmentally conscious spirit. Visitors can sample the full range of Giniversity gins through a guided tasting, learning about the subtle differences between gins and taking the time to discover new favourites. For those curious about the art of distilling, every Saturday, Giniversity offers hands-on experiences that let you step into the role for a day. Explore the fundamentals of spirit-making with The Gin Blending Class exploring the history of gin, and creating your own bespoke recipe. Every participant goes home with a 500ml bottle of their personalised gin blend.

Wise Eagle Bay

Perched in the heart of the Wise Family’s 60-hectare ocean-vistas property, Wise Eagle Bay crafts premium gin and spirits, which are produced and hand-bottled on site. Situated alongside the Wise Wine cellar door, their tasting room welcomes walk-ins so you can enjoy a beverage overlooking both the vines and the ocean any day of the week. Not only is Wise using its own chardonnay and other grape varieties grown at the scene, but Captain Barnacles, Tom, and Jetty (the three custom-built 380-litre column stills), pristine rainwater, and other traditional distilling methods are also chipping in on the process. Every bottle embodies hands-on craftsmanship and honours traditional distilling techniques.

Beyond Distilling

Beyond Distilling is one of the few distilleries in WA making their own base spirit entirely from scratch. Using local grains and grapes sourced from WA farmers, nothing is imported or outsourced. Their award-winning vodkas and gins are crafted in Busselton and infused with botanicals from neighbours, local growers – even Head Distiller Greg Garnish’s backyard.

Wild Lot Distillery

At Wild Lot Distillery, sustainability and innovation take centre stage. Founded by a female distiller in Karridale and family-owned, Wild Lot’s debut release, Fortuna Gin, celebrates the beauty of farm-fresh botanicals with every sip. Each bottle comes with a thyme-seed swing tag to grow your own garnish, and the distillery’s refill program ensures sustainability continues long after your first pour. Small but mighty, the distillery focuses on quality, creating a distinct, bold, and memorable sensory experience.

Gindong Gin

After Hours’ award-winning wines alone are worth a visit to the family-owned and run winery near Busselton, but make sure not to skip their gins! Gindong Gin from Jindong pays tribute to the Group Settlers who originally planted the heritage fruit trees. Using these botanicals, they craft distinctive, small-batch artisan gins and vodkas, produced through traditional pot still distillation methods. Their deep-purple Mulberry Gin is a treat for your eyes and taste buds.
