Scenic Beauty

Margaret River Golf Club

There aren’t many courses in WA that rival the Margaret River Golf Club for sheer beauty and golfing challenge.

The course is just a five-minute drive from town, and winds its way up and down the prolific Leeuwin-Naturaliste Ridge.  You’ll find kangaroos and plentiful bird life on the course, along with an abundance of native trees.

It was created in the early 1950s on a cleared setting near the Margaret River mouth by a group of golfing enthusiasts.

The course is kept in pristine condition year-round, but is at its beautiful, verdant best in the winter months.  The 6092m long, par-72 course is one of the most highly regarded in WA.

Augusta Golf Course

The Augusta Golf Course is one of the most stunning in WA, with its outlook across the beautiful and rugged Indian Ocean, and the Blackwood River Valley.

Each year the course hosts the Augusta Masters competition, and the swales and hillocks the course sits on remain much as it was in the 1920s when the land was first imagined as a site for golf.  The 5837m long, par-72 course carves its way through a forest of peppermint and grass trees, and was ranked the number one sand greens course in WA by Top 100 Golf Courses.

The course receives excellent winter rainfall, more so than in other parts of the region, and is especially resplendent with wildflowers through the spring months from September to November. Keep an eye out for their events scattered throughout the year.

Fun for Families

Golf Gardens

You’ll find Golf Gardens on Harmans Mill Road in Wilyabrup, right in the heart of Margaret River’s most prolific winery area.

It’s golf with a twist, with both a big ball and supa putt courses, which are perfect for a family day out.

Big ball golf is played with bigger clubs, bigger balls, a smaller course, and heaps more fun.  The supa putt course is a brilliant putt-putt course, where the players must enter the course through a bamboo tunnel.

Golf Gardens is also home to large bamboo gardens.  The bamboo is harvested and made into linens, towels, socks, back scratchers and more, which are available in the Golf Gardens gift shop.  They also have a café serving homemade pizzas for once you have worked up an appetite.

Family Fun Park – Simmos Ice Creamery

Not only do Simmos offer some of the best ice creams in the south west, they also have an all-weather 18-hole mini-golf course to play whilst you enjoy one (or two, we won’t judge!)

There are 18-holes of pure putt-putting fun, all astro turfed and landscaped so that you can play year-round.  Mock water courses and sand traps will keep everyone entertained, from the complete novice to the pro.

If golf isn’t enough for the kids, there is also sometimes segue riding, battle zones, and rock-wall climbing, usually during the school holidays.

Dunsborough and Districts Country Club

The Dunsborough and Districts Country Club is a true hub of the Dunsborough community, and has won multiple CLUBS WA awards.  There are heaps of community sport activities including bowls, croquet, tennis, mountain biking, and, of course, golf.

The 18-hole course is nestled in among the jarrah, marri, sheoak, and peppermint trees of Old Dunsborough.  It overlooks the turquoise waters of Geographe Bay, and is set in bushland with wonderful ocean views from many sections of the fairways.

During winter and spring, wildflowers are plentiful on the edges of the fairways, and kangaroos can often be seen roaming the course throughout the year.

Non-members are welcome to play the course.
