Affordable Accommodation to Book Before Christmas

Between September and December you can get the most out of the Margaret River Region, with beaches to yourself and flexibility of booking at top restaurants and local attractions. It’s also a great time when accommodation deals are available. We’ve listed some well-priced accommodation options below, some with great mid-week and weekend rates between now and Christmas.

You couldn’t ask for a prettier location than Hamelin Bay Holiday Park. Situated directly on the bay you are on the doorstep of one of the region’s most picturesque beaches and can take the boat out for some sunset fishing, or cook up a barbie with produce from the on-site general store. Cabins are a convenient and great option, but camping is just as fun and there are plenty of excellent sites under the peppermint trees. With Boranup beach stretching to the north and Cosy Corner to the south, there is so much to discover in this part of the world. And of course – don’t forget to say hello (from a distance) to the wild family of sting rays who live in the bay!

Positioned right on the water on Geographe Bay, and only a 2 hour drive from Perth, Peppermint Grove Beach Holiday Park is an excellent choice to switch off from the world and relax. Imagine your days of taking the 4WD for a drive along the sand, playing a round of mini golf or tennis, reading a book under a shady tree and then taking a bottle of wine down to the beach with a loved one for sunset. Peppy Beach has it all and there’s no need to venture further afield. With woodfired pizza nights and a liquor store on site, it really is the perfect Aussie holiday.

Situated in the heart of Margaret River, Stay offers a range of comfortable and affordable accommodation options from standard queen rooms through to king spa rooms or the spacious semi self-contained apartments. All rooms have stunning views over the hotel grounds and gardens with top of the range facilities to make your stay more comfortable. And right on the doorstep of the region’s world class wineries and beautiful beaches.

If it’s comfort in the heart of town you’re chasing, Rosewood Guesthouse is an obvious choice. A traditional B&B located within walking distance of Margaret River’s eclectic main street, Rosewood is like a home away from home. You’ll wake up to a lovely breakfast of your choice served by friendly staff and can choose from a range of suites – each with private bathrooms, televisions, fridges and kettles and all beautifully presented. You’ll be centrally located to visit the regions wineries, galleries, and restaurants, and will be well rested to take on some popular attractions too.

With the Margaret River Brewhouse a stone’s throw from your accommodation, and positioned right on the rails to trails biking tracks, Edge of the Forest Motel connects you with nature and local produce with ease. Start your morning with a coffee at The Hairy Marron, then hire a bike and cycle through the forest along the beautiful Margaret River. Have a well priced and exceptional lunch at the Margaret River Brewhouse and sit with a locally made craft beer overlooking the karri trees. Voted on TripAdvisor as the Travellers’ Choice ‘Best of the Best’, and Top Ten Best Value Accommodation in Australia – Edge of the Forest Motel is just that – great value.

Prices: From $145 for a King Double Room. 

Pack the pooch – this place is dog friendly. And with 64 acres to run, he’ll be happy and worn out at the end of the day. The self contained chalets each feature one or two bedrooms and a flat screen TV. Combine your trip to Caves Road Chalets with a trip to Gnarabup dog beach and breakfast at the White Elephant Café, then lunch at Beerfarm (which also welcomes dogs), and relax at your accommodation with a bottle of wine to finish off the day. They also offer discounted rates for extended stays, so what better excuse to add a few nights to your trip!

Prices: One bedroom loft-style chalets start at $260 per night, or extend your stay to 7 nights and receive their discounted rate. 

Spacious and modern self-contained apartments on the edge of the rails to trails hiking and biking tracks and a hop, skip and a jump from Margaret River’s main street. Margaret’s Forest Apartments are a great choice if you are interested in exploring the local bushland and river systems, and you won’t have to get in the car once you’re here.  You can walk practically everywhere!

Prices: Margaret’s Forest Apartments offer Spa Studio rooms at $170 per night, with their mid-week special for two-night stays.

An alternative and rustic accommodation option – set on a secluded Hop Farm in Karridale. Eco-conscious and sustainability themes run throughout at Karridale Cottages and Hop Farm, with studios built of rammed earth and stone sourced from the property. Furnishings are modern and comfortable, and a stunning claw foot bathtub looking out over the bush is the perfect way to relax. Visitors can check out the recently completed hop farm and learn about the planting and growing process while there. Karridale is a peaceful location where you can check out local olive and honey farms, Glenarty Road Winery and the Karridale Tavern.

Perfect for couples or young families looking for an escape before the Christmas rush, Eight Willows Retreat offers contemporary chalets on 75 acres of native forest and vineyards. Staying put on the property is easy with breakfast baskets available and the opportunity to hand feed resident joeys around the property, trout fish feeding for guests, and a variety of fruit trees to enjoy. The location is centrally located and around 15 minutes from Margaret River town and beaches.

Prices: From $242 for a One Bed King Chalet. 

With an onsite bar serving the largest selection of whisky and bourbon in the south west, along with a curated selection of Pemberton wines, Jaspers is a fantastic getaway further afield from the Margaret River Region. The cabins are luxury spaces, architect-designed and with beautiful king sized beds with quality linen. Double glazing ensures they remain cool in summer and warm in winter and reverse cycle air conditioning allows you to set the temperature to your liking. Private decks are perfect for relaxing or parking up your bikes if you’re keen on hitting the tracks.

Prices: Prices from $209 a night including complimentary linen, fresh milk and coffee. 

The Broadwater Resort is located in Busselton on the edge of the incredible Geographe Bay. The hotel offers a range of hotel-style or self-contained accommodation options perfect for couples and young families. Broadwater Resort is also pet friendly with some rooms accepting your pawsome friend and with a dog beach at the door-step, it’s an ideal destination for the whole family. Two boat moorings also sit directly in front of the resort and are available on enquiry if you have your own motor boat or yacht.

Prices: The Resort Rooms start from $190 per night for two people. 

Positioned between Margaret River’s main town and the iconic Prevelly Point, Bushy Lake Chalets offer a range of farmhouse style homes on 5 acres of woodland. The chalets are built with separation between guests in mind, allowing you to enjoy the peaceful nature of the surrounds. Wifi, a woodfire, and spas are a staple in each.

Prices: Stay 7 nights, get one free. Prices start from $220 per night with a minimum two night booking. 

Modern, spacious and walking distance to Margaret River town, Central Avenue Apartments tick a number of boxes. Located 150m from the main street, you can easily wander into town to jump on a tour bus, book in at a popular dining spot along the main street, or peruse the galleries and local artisan stores. All of the apartments are self-contained and have two bedrooms with fully equipped kitchens, comfy leather lounges, Foxtel in both the lounge and main bedrooms, luxurious king size beds and deluxe waterfall showers.
