International wine awards have come thick and fast in recent years and the true backbone of Margaret River's wines remains its exceptional Cabernet's. What's more many other grape varieties are showing great promise in this relatively youthful appellation. 

Whilst exploring the region one will discover that each town is situated close to renowned wineries and eating houses, many of whom have won awards for the quality of the meals or wine that they serve. Meals ranging from hearty breakfast and home-cooked dinners, all the way up to silver service can be enjoyed at the stopover of your choice. 

Margaret River's passionate chefs have been winners at the prestigious Tasting Australia Regional Culinary competition and are recognised throughout the country for highly creative food and wine matching. 

The Margaret River Wine Region Festival held each May is also a wonderful event to get a taste of everything the area has to offer the gourmet and gourmand.
